Although the majority of Hindus live in India, there are also a number of followers of Hinduism with considerable amounts in Nepal, Bangladesh and our country, Indonesia. Building Hindu in India started nearly 2000 years ago and marked the transition of Hinduism from the Vedic religion.

Hindu temple architecture has been developed and consists of various styles. Hindu temples are usually dedicated to one of the major Hindu Gods and contain Murti (sacred images) of God. Although it is not mandatory for a Hindu to visit a Hindu temple on a regular basis, temples continue to play an important role in Hindu society and culture.
1. Tanah Lot di Bali
Temple is located on top of a large rock, Tanah Lot is one of the most famous Hindu temple in Bali, and perhaps also the most visited temple and made the object of the photo. Tanah Lot has been part of Balinese mythology for centuries. Pura Tanah Lot itself is one of seven sea temples, which form a chain along the western coast of Bali
2.Kuil Virupaksha
Virupaksha Temple in Hampi town in India started as a small temple and grown into a large complex under the Vijayanagara rulers. It is believed that the temple has been functioning uninterruptedly since small temple built in the 7th century which makes it one of the oldest Hindu temples were still functioning in India. Biggest temple entrance tower has a height of 50 meters.
3.Kuil Meenakshi Amman
Meenakshi Amman Temple is one of the most important Hindu temples in India, located in the holy city of Madurai. This temple is dedicated to Sundareswar (forms Lord Shiva) and Meenakshi (a form of Goddess Parvati). In this complex there are 14 magnificent towers including two golden Gopuram on the main god, a carved and painted with intricate. This temple is a significant symbol for the Tamil people, and built in the early 17th century.
4.Angkor Wat
Angkor Wat which in Indonesian means "City Temple", is a vast temple complex in Cambodia which displays the splendor remains the capital of the Khmer Empire, from the 9th century to the 15th century AD. In the complex there is the famous Temple of Angkor Wat, the largest religious monument in the world's single, and the Bayon temple at Angkor Thom with many large stone surface. During its long history, Angkor has experienced several changes to convert Hindus into Buddhism
5.Kuil Banteay Srei
Although officially a part of the complex of Angkor Wat, Banteay Srei is located 25 km to the northeast of the main temple of Angkor Wat. Hindu Temple was completed in 967 and built largely of red sandstone, a medium that is suitable for elaborate decorative wall carvings which are still clearly visible today. Banteay Srei was the only major temple at Angkor not built for the king, it was built by one of the king's advisers Rajendravarman, namely Yajnyavahara.
6.Kuil Brihadeeswarar
Brihadishwara Temple, located in Thanjavur, India, built by the Chola king Rajaraja I in the 11th century. This temple is the first temple in the world built entirely of granite. Brihadishwara is a brilliant example of the Dravidian style of temple architecture. This temple tower has a height of 66 meters making it one of the highest temple in the world.
7.Kuil Kanchipuram
1000 City of Temple, Kanchipuram, is one of the oldest cities in South India, and is known for its ancient Hindu temples and silk saris. The city contains several large temple like Varadharaja Perumal Temple for Lord Vishnu and Ekambaranatha Temple which is one of the five forms of Lord Shiva residence.
8.Kuil Khajuraho
Khajuraho village is one of the most popular tourist destinations in India. In this village there are many Hindu and Jain temples with erotic sculptures. The temples here are built over a span of 200 years, from the year 950 to the year 1150. Some Jain temple dedicated to the god and the rest to Hindu Gods, Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva.
9. Sri Ranganathaswamy
Dedicated to Lord Ranganatha (a form of Lord Vishnu), Sri Ranganathaswamy in Srirangam, India is an important temple receives millions of visitors and pilgrims every year. With an area of 156 hectares, Sri Ranganathaswamy is one of the largest religious complexes in the world.
10.Candi Prambanan
Just as Tanah Lot temple in Bali, Candi Prambanan Indonesia also from the Hindu temple complex which is the largest and most beautiful in Indonesia. Located about 18 km east of Yogyakarta. Prambanan temple has three main temples dedicated to Lord Vishnu, Brahma and Shiva and was built around the year 850 by the Ancient Mataram Kingdom.
